The Hard Truth About Consistency
News flash: you might not feel much different after your first appointment with us. However, before you click away from our site and head to another physical therapist… let me tell you why.
I’m sure you’ve heard it before: consistency is key.
Nothing changes without consistent work! It might sound cliche, but the same rings true for your physical therapy journey. And that doesn’t just mean coming in for an appointment once a week— it means prioritizing your exercises and intentions. It means working hard to get yourself back to where you want to be. We’ll be by your side to offer direction and assistance at all times, but it’s ultimately up to you to make changes to your routine.
Like I’ve said before, it is our goal to get you feeling better, moving better, and ultimately performing better. But we can’t do that without your participation! When you’re invested in your recovery, that frees us up to be able to work harder and more intentionally toward your goals. One of our athletes, Anna, had this to say about consistency:
Video by Ava Harris
“I’ve come to see Bobby twice now– once for my hip and then for my lower back. The most recent one right before the competition was my lower back. I overexerted it and got to the point where I couldn’t lift my daughter up. Everything hinging over was painful … I would not be going to the competition this weekend if I hadn’t come to see Bobby, and it was really Bobby’s encouragement and consistency that got me to be able to move again.”
Every time you come through our doors, your visit is purposeful and personalized.
Each of your first few visits is carefully crafted to work on your immediate need— back problems, knee pain, or whatever you’re struggling with. Once your pain is gone, everything afterwards is meant to help you refine your movements, protect yourself from further injury, and work toward achieving your goals.
We don’t offer a temporary quick fix just to make you feel better; Fine Tuned Performance offers a path to lasting change.
And that lasting change doesn’t happen overnight.
